typewriter poet for your wedding

a typewriter, your guests, four minutes, a poem.

i'm pea, a typewriter poet in cambridge. at your wedding i set up somewhere between the drinks and the dancing. i welcome your guests to sit down with me and tell me something. a word, a story, a memory… a few minutes later they walk off with a poem. typed by hand, on paper by a human, theirs to treasure

you pay one flat fee. every poem is free for your guests. and before the day is out, i type a poem for the two of you.

how it works

1. tell me the date.

send me the date, the venue and roughly how many guests. i'll send you one flat quote. no per-poem charges, no surprises.

2. on the day.

i bring the typewriter and the paper. you give me a table and two chairs near the action. your guests come over one by one, chat to me, watch their poem get typed, and take it home.

3. after.

your guests leave with a poem in their pocket. you keep yours, framed if you like.

pick how i write

  • bespoke mode, the magical one. we chat for 3 to 4 minutes, then i write the poem. about 10 poems an hour.

  • fast mode. give me 1 to 3 words and i improvise around them. less nuanced, more poems an hour.

we can agree the paper size beforehand, and i'll vary the spacing and layout to fit.

what's included, from £350

every wedding booking includes:

  • live typewriter poems for your guests, free for them, for the whole time i'm booked

  • the typewriter, the paper and me

  • setting up and packing down

  • a typed A5 poem for the two of you

  • travel within 15 miles of cambridge

2 hours (minimum booking): £350
half day, up to 4 hours: £500
full day, up to 7 hours: £750
extra hour: £100

add-on: frame your poem, +£50. your A5 poem framed, ready to show at the venue.

space and setup

  • what i need: a table and two chairs, near the action. somewhere guests naturally pass, between the bar and the dance floor, or near the drinks reception.

  • setup: i arrive about 30 minutes before i start typing to set up, and take about 30 minutes to pack down afterwards. that time is on me, it isn't taken out of your booking.

  • when to book me: the quiet bits are where it works best. drinks receptions, between courses and speeches, the evening do. it gives people something to do that isn't their phone.

travel: cambridge, cambridgeshire and beyond

i'm based in cambridge. travel is free within 15 miles of the city, so most cambridge venues and villages are covered.

further out, ely, saffron walden, bedford, and venues across cambridgeshire, hertfordshire and suffolk, i add mileage for the extra distance. you'll see it in your quote before you book, so there's nothing hidden.
